Learn More About Implant Dentures
This procedure involves the use of an injected drug to the arm or back of the hand to provide very effective sedation for nervous patients. It has three powerful effects: it promotes a feeling of calm within the patient; it reduces the patient's awareness of the treatment; it has a powerful amnesia effect so that the patient usually remembers very little of the procedure. But, importantly, you will not lose consciousness or be 'sent to sleep' and verbal contact can be maintained.
A healthier alternative.
Beyond these physical changes, dentures often need resizing, can cause mouth sores from friction, slip out of place, and impair clear speech. A healthier alternative is the Implant-Supported Denture from Total Teeth. This option combines implants surgically placed into the jawbone (promoting bone stimulation and growth) with a removable denture. This prevents bone deterioration, maintains jawbone health, and provides easier talking and chewing without slippage or the need for resizing.
Total Teeth Advantage
Choose Total Teeth for a healthier, more stable alternative to traditional dentures.
All-on-4 and All-on-6
Replace an entire arch with as few as four dental implants. Implants are strategically placed, with two angled at the back for stability. A restoration (bridge or denture) is then attached, giving you the look and function of a full arch without needing an implant for each missing tooth.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Provide superior support and stability. A bar runs from one implant to the others and attaches to the back of the denture, eliminating the need for messy adhesives and restoring the full look of your smile. Enjoy eating the foods you love again!
Implant-Retained Dentures
Similar to implant-supported dentures but removable. Implants have ball fixtures on top, allowing the denture to snap into place securely.
Implant Procedure
Once a tooth is extracted, there are several subsequent steps. Each step of the procedure is performed at our office using local anesthesia to numb the areas involved. Intravenous sedation can also be done to help remove anxiety.
With each step, you will come back for follow up appointments for us to ensure sufficient healing. With each step, you will be given antibiotics, pain medications, and an antibacterial mouthrinse, along with post-operative care instructions.
Stage I: Bone Grafting
(At time of Extraction, Let Heal for 4-6 Months)
Bone grafting is best if it is done at the time of the extraction. It is a highly successful procedure that involves building up the bone. The bone comes either from your body (another site of your body), or more commonly, by using donor bone. The bone acts as a scaffold for your bone to grow and eventually fill in the desired area.
Stage II: Implant Placement
(4-6 Months After Graft)
After the bone has healed and there is a solid foundation, your implant will be placed. The implant refers to the screw, usually made of titanium, and is placed in the bone. This stage is usually less painful than the first stage. The amount of healing time for the implant to integrate with the bone varies depending on the location of the mouth, density of bone, and your body’s healing ability.
Stage III: Healing Abutment Placement
(4-6 Months After Implant Placement)
After the implant has healed, the area of the implant will be numbed with local anesthetic and a small incision will be made. The doctor will place a “button” over the implant to allow access for your general dentist to make the crown, soon after.
